Fundraising in aid of the Hertfordshire Breast Unit Appeal

Alistair Barrie has lived in Hertford since 2014. A year later his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer while he was entertaining the troops in Afghanistan, so he rushed home to write a comedy show about it. Thankfully, she made a full recovery and he has organised a benefit for the Hertfordshire Breast Unit Appeal every year since, except when there’s been a pandemic going on or the theatre was being rebuilt.

So he’s delighted to be back with what might well be the best bill yet, and considering he’s previously had Jo Brand, Ed Byrne, Alan Davies, Marcus Brigstocke and Rachel Parris, that’s saying something!

AL MURRAY with his alter-ego, The Pub Landlord, is one of the most recognizable and successful comedians in the UK.

For over 20 years Al has filled arenas and the largest theatres around the world as The Pub Landlord, and won numerous awards and accolades, including the Edinburgh Comedy Award (formally Perrier Award, after a record four successive nominations) and secured Olivier Award nominations for both of his sell-out West End runs.

A gifted actor, Amos has impressed critics with his performances on stage and screen and has proved he is one of the most unique comedy voices of his generation but demonstrated a penchant for drama roles.

LAURA SMYTH, in her own inimitable style, gets to the truth of the human experience, treading the line between bluntness and warmth throughout. Ultimately, she is asking how ‘living your best life’ is actually achieved – heads up: it don’t involve Instagram!

ALASDAIR BECKETT-KING is a legendary comedian, in that there is little historical evidence that he exists. But he does exist. Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2017, Alasdair has featured on BBC radio as a comedian and sketch writer, and performed stand-up across the UK, at Glastonbury, Citadel Fest, the Udderbelly Southbank and at the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2017 he was in Dave’s Top 10 Jokes of the Fringe, and he knows quite a lot about 19th century magicians. Tourists often ask to have their photo taken with him, presumably impressed by this.
