If you need additional support in navigating our venue, we’re here to help. For more information on how we can support you in visiting BEAM, check out our guidance below.

At a Glance

Step-Free Access



Our entire site has step-free access throughout. There is step-free access from the main entrance to all Stages, Screens and Social Spaces, as well as our Bars and Toilets. We have dedicated viewing spaces for wheelchair users in our Stage and Screen spaces.

 



Hearing


Our fire alarm has flashing lights. We have a hearing loop in Stage One and Stage Two and have multiple subtitled films and captioned plays throughout the year.
 

 


Visual



Glass doors have contrast markings. Some parts of the venue have low lighting. There is audio descriptive commentary on most films we screen and headsets are available upon request at the bar.
 

 


Ticketing



We have a complimentary ticket policy for essential companions of standard ticket holders. Please note that children must be accompanied by a paying ticket holder at all times, whether that adult is a carer or otherwise. Please be prepared to present the relevant documentation to support your complimentary ticket request upon arrival.

Public Transport:


You can get to BEAM by bus and train. There are bus stops located at Mill Bridge, just outside BEAM; services to and from Stevenage, Ware, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City and Broxbourne can all be accessed from here. For details on bus routes from Mill Bridge, visit Intalink.

The nearest train station is Hertford East. The train station is 0.40 miles / 520.5 km away. Hertford East is step-free. Hertford North is not step-free.

 


Taxi:


There are several taxi firms in the area, some of which have wheelchair accessible vehicles. Please click HERE for more information.

 



Driving:


There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point has a dropped kerb. We do not have a car park. The St Andrew Street Car Park has the nearest available blue badge bays, although they are also available at the other locations.

Navigating BEAM

Arrival:

The route from the street to the main entrance is step free. There is a dropped kerb. The main entrance itself is step free. The main door is sliding and automatic. The side entrance, into the Kitchen Bar, is step free. The main door is sliding and automatic.

 

 

Visual Impairment:

We have contrast markings on all glass doors. Our glass windows do not have contrast markings. Some parts of the venue have low lighting.

 

 

Public Lift:

We have one public lift. You can access all public floors via this lift. The dimensions of this lift are available upon request. The lift says the floor number at each floor. The lift buttons have raised numbers or letters. The lift shows the floor number, at each floor.

 

 

Self Service Ticketing Kiosk:

From the main entrance to the kiosk, there is step-free access. There will always be a team member available to assist with ticketing enquiries at the kiosk.

 

 

Accessible Performances:

We have a complimentary ticket policy for essential companions for adults who require additional assistance on-site. Some of our performances include captioning, audio-description, British Sign Language interpretation, relaxed shows and touch tours.

 

 

Audience Experience:

Our Welcome Team are available to help disabled visitors. There is audio descriptive commentary in some shows and films. There are headsets if required for some shows and films. We have a specific areas in our auditoria for guests with accessible requirements. Essential companions sit alongside.

 

 

Kitchen Bar:

From the main entrance and side entrance to the bar, there is step-free access. There is a dropped bar section at both ends of the bar. The menu is offered in large print. There is low volume background music.

 

 

Screen Bar:

The Screen Bar is on the first floor and can be reached by the lift. From the main entrance to the lift, there is step-free access. There is a dropped section at the end of the bar.

 

 

Accessible Toilets:

There are public toilets available for disabled visitors. They are based in our foyer area. All toilets are compliant with current regulation. The accessible toilets have handrails. You do not require a RADAR key to gain entry.

 

 

Changing Places:

There is a Changing Places toilet. It is based in our foyer area. There is step-free access from the main entrance to the Changing Places. The Changing Places does not have a permanent attendant. For further information on transfer direction, dimensions, hoist weight, and mobility equipment, please get in touch.

 

Customer Care Support

Accessibility Equipment:



We have a hearing loop in Stage One and Stage Two. Assistant dogs are allowed in the venue. The nearest grassy area for assistant dogs to use is to the left of the venue.
 

 


Emergency Evacuation Procedures:



We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors. The fire alarm has flashing lights.
 

 


Customer Care Support:



All staff have disability awareness training. Some staff have Next Generation Text or RELAY training. Our programming team are dedicated to providing an array of accessible performances across the season.
